Perfect Pairs

Sicilian grilled skewered meatballs and asparagus with fried shallots

Since I seem to be on a roll trying and sharing new food combos why stop when your hot. Here is another great culinary combination that won't break your piggy bank. And both recipes are grilled so it works out great!

Sicilian grilled skewered meatballs from  http://www.cliffordawright.com/caw/ and asparagus with fried shallots from http://www.dailyunadventuresincooking.com/

I basicly followed everything exactly the way it's written. Except I used prosciutto ham instead of pancetta. And Parm instead of pecorino cheese in the meatballs.

I have used Clifford Wright's site before with awsome results. One intresting aspect of his site that I enjoy is that he gives a short history of each recipe. Interestingly enough this Sicilian meatball recipe originated from the medieval Arab era. Which reminds me of another Sicilian dish I make some times  called "1000 year old chicken". Which dates back 1000 years ago when the Emir Mohammed Ibn Itmnah ruled Catania. I will share that recipe in another post.
I'm not as familiar with "Daily adventures in cooking" but  if other recipes are as good as this asparagus recipe I will be coming back.
.

Here are the recipes.
